We're in a financially stable place right now and have room to grow and absorb traffic spikes. We're looking to invest in the stability of the platform but also to pay it forward by doing a (recurring) donation.

I want to crowdsource some ideas about this and maybe do a poll to vote on these answers later.

I'm struggling to hold on to Safari on Mac.

On paper, it should be the best browser for people (like me) that value simplicity and privacy, yet in practice ~5% of the websites simply don't work correct.

Then there's Chrome, which performs and works beautifully, but is owned by Google.

Firefox looks like it's not designed for Mac and that takes the pleasure out of using it.

Any thoughts on this? What do you use, and why?

Just attempted an early morning proof-of-concept with the Elastic Kubernetes operator for deploying full text search to Mastodon. I'm a bit saddened by the fact that Mastodon doesn't support connecting to Elasticsearch over TLS.

I would either have to completely strip down the security on the Elasticsearch instances, or add some middleware to handle TLS instead.

Not too thrilled about either. Marking the PoC as failed, for now.
