There's some solid AI-fobia around here on the Fediverse; such a shame. If people use the tooling well, they can do great things with it.

This is the month toot.community will close, following the initial announcement on July 28. Since then, only 248 accounts have moved to a new instance. In contrast, 1090 people have logged in over the past 30 days.

Please let me know if anyone has trouble finding its way through the Mastodon interface, I'll gladly help out.

I tried a thing, and I think I succeeded. LittleFedi was released today, and I was already thinking about dropping GotoSocial. I performed an in-place migration of all data, so here we are: same domain, same handle, same content, and same keys.

I was able to bring along previous posts, but not on the same URL. That's fine, I guess.

So far so good, very impressed with this initial release.

An officially supported one-off path exists for moving a single-user Akkoma or Pleroma instance onto littleFedi on the same domain, keeping the actor URI and the RSA key pair so that remote servers never notice the switch. It carries the identity, the profile, the followers and the following list. It does not carry old posts or media.

Would this work or be possible for Gotosocial or Mastodon too?

Just heard about https://sofka.rs/. It's a k9s alternative written in Rust. Going to try it out in the next few weeks.

Just got an email from someone who said he's sorry to see toot.community go and invited me to chat. This guy works at a business that helps companies turn private databases into secure, licensable assets.
