Searching for car seats for the baby. There are actual seats with apps (!!!) that notify you on your phone if you leave your child in the car unattended.

The world is broken.

Just took this picture yesterday, and seeing it, it dawned on me that they're getting really old. We jokingly refer to them as Grandma and Grandpa.

They've been with me for the past decade, and lived with me through my worst periods. I hope I can still get a couple of good years from them, because they're the best. 🥰🐱

Sooo, does #peertube support VR 360 degree videos?

I keep moving back and forth between Spotify, and Apple Music. One for the algorithm, the other for the outstanding music quality.

Just now, I learnt that Apple Music pays its artists twice as much as Spotify.

That's another point towards Apple Music.

I love how my YouTube frontpage is a direct reflection of my current interests and needs. It currently holds car reviews, motorcycle vlogs and videos on how to caulk clean lines in bathrooms.

One of the best things about having a work from home job is that I get to watch every part of my daughter growing up, every day.

Grateful for this freedom :)

Please give me the recommendation engine from Spotify, but with Apple Music's audio quality.

Thank you.

Emergency. Alright. How about no?

Dutch traffic in a nutshell:

Our country is great for a lot of reasons, but the way we behave in traffic isn't one of them.

Hi from Belgium 🇧🇪

I decided to quit caffeine altogether about 4 days ago, as I was drinking upwards of 500-1000mg a day.

Luckily the headaches aren't that bad, the holy hell.. the brain fog is serious.

The instant sleep improvements are so worth it, though.

Here’s a kitty in a box. Thank you for watching. Have a nice day.

Replying to @jorijn

The silver lining is that it's not a very important project, and I can recreate some parts from caches. Still, a lesson was learned. Test recovery procedures, often.

> "I guess this makes all the "old" backups that include #velero already unrestorable?"
> Yes

Guess who found out the wrong way—a significant flaw in their default configuration.

The MariaDB Operator messed up, clearing the entire jorijn.com database. Velero messed up, leaving me unable to restore the backups.

I'm very annoyed by this.

The boy is celebrating his 10th birthday today. I scored some serious dad-points by surprising him with this little toy for the day. I’m sure he’ll sleep very well this evening. 😀🚀

I'm almost at the 6-month mark of being a dad to the most fantastic baby girl 👶.

The one thing I truly underestimated is what lack of sleep does to one's discipline. I've been eating more unhealthy foods, working out less, and spending way more money. Impulse control is gone.

However, the hard days and broken nights are occurring less and less. Now, to make an effort to get back on track. :-)

In light of the recent spam wave, I'd like to show this email we send to new accounts that are flagged based on specific heuristics. With this, we filter about 80-90% of spam accounts and bots before they can bother the Fediverse.

If they match, we limit their account so they can't reach out to people who aren't following them. In case there's a false-positive, they still get to build a profile and post messages. They'll become visible when their appeal is processed.

The oldest kid wants to learn more about HTML/CSS/JS. His main driver is an Android tablet.

What is best for him to upload, serve, and tinker with (static) code?

Any thoughts?

Map of my latest run.
Map of my latest run.

I am slowly starting #running again after taking rest for three weeks. It turns out the surgery on my knees from a couple of years back is still causing the area to be weaker than expected.

I've been running with the #garmin metronome to get my cadence up to 170-180 SPM to reduce the chance of injuries, where I used to default to 150 SPM.

It feels strange, but increasing it with small steps (+10/week) seems doable.
