#threads
Regardless of wether this is the right thing to do, I fear you're misinterpreting this dialog. It says that 8611 people on mstdn.social now lost the ability to follow their favorite people on #threads.
Only 44 people on Threads can't follow their favorite people on mstdn.social anymore.
The loss weighs mostly on mstdn.social.
After learning more about their intentions and capabilities, I'm excited about federation with #threads.
Why?
When local users report content, it gets sent to their mod team as well, so they can deal with the author.
If local users misbehave, and someone over at Threads reports it, the local admin gets a copy, so they can hold that user to their local rules.
I get to follow my family and favorite bands on Threads from the comfort of my instance, without their content/sorting algorithm.
